Dynamic security can involve the movement of the security measure itself. This form of security is in place to monitor the movement of inmates and keep them in line. A good example of this would be random searches and patrolling. Security measures like this involve movement of something, which would be the prison staff in this case. This type of security means its able to work around this, as opposed to physical security where its stationary. Staff will need to check inmates and also cells and guard fencing and gates used for entry and exit. Using staff as a form of security can give inmates a more interactive experience where inmates may feel more respected and comfortable, helping with relationships. More examples of dynamic security can include the use of mobile cameras and patrol dogs. Prison officers are required to be present during any visits to watch over and supervise. Inmates will be aware of any dynamic security, making escape seem much more difficult. Offenders can be watched closely and controlled in terms of what thy can and can't do.
